Her extensive background as an equine veterinary assistant is distinguished by a keen focus on lameness cases and breeding, as she has bred her own horses. Leila’s journey is one of continual advancement, with a strong emphasis on education and innovation.

Leila’s commitment to professional growth is evident in her attendance at continuing education courses conducted by The American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians and Assistants (AAEVT), particularly in the field of anesthesia. Equipped with this invaluable knowledge, she took charge of anesthetics at a prominent equine surgical practice, contributing her experience for two years.

At Horizon Equine, Leila is an indispensable part of our team, lending her experience to support a range of surgical procedures within the clinic. Additionally, she takes on the pivotal responsibility of managing the controlled drug inventory, ensuring the highest standards.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Leila is an avid horsewoman, recognized for her collection of grey horses. Her equestrian pursuits encompass a deep involvement in preliminary eventing and 1.2m show jumping, most notably aboard her 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding, “Riverdance.” Leila Lucas exemplifies a commitment to excellence in equine health and a relentless pursuit of horizons within the equestrian world.
