Dr. Sarah Squinas’ lifelong fascination with horses has been the compass guiding her journey in equine veterinary medicine. Her quest for excellence began as a veterinary assistant and a groomer at Fraser Downs, an early expression of her passion for these majestic creatures.
In 2012, Dr. Sarah embarked on her professional odyssey by graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Her career began at Clover Valley Veterinary Hospital, a renowned equine general practice and referral hospital. Here, she not only practiced general medicine but also delved into specialized areas, becoming proficient in colic surgery, neonatal medicine, and intensive care. This commitment to advancing her skills reflects her forward-looking approach in providing comprehensive equine care.
Dr. Squinas’ enthusiasm for education and knowledge sharing is another facet of her horizon-expanding philosophy. She developed and instructed the Veterinary Assistant Program at the University of the Fraser Valley, empowering future generations of veterinary professionals. Her publication of a case report in the Canadian Veterinary Journal underscores her dedication to advancing equine healthcare.
As a member of the Delta Equine Seminar Committee, Dr. Squinas contributes to organizing a local, annual continuing education event for equine veterinarians, reinforcing her commitment to community engagement and professional growth. She has also been instrumental in hosting educational events for 4-H and Pony Club enthusiasts and delivering enlightening lectures to horse owners at the Mane Event.
Dr. Sarah Squinas’ journey has continually broadened its horizons. Her special interests in colic, equine dentistry, and miniature horses reflect a commitment to staying at the forefront of equine healthcare. In her spare time, she finds solace in the company of her husband, horses, and a menagerie of furred creatures, demonstrating her life filled with passion and compassion for animals.
